Healthy outcomes for
NHS in-house solutions

This NHS Trust had little control over their print spend with a mixture of inhouse production facilities alongside over 70 unauthorised and un-vetted external print vendors. Costs were soaring, brand and quality were being compromised, stocks mismanaged with high wastage, poor service and no economies of scale were being realised.

Print Economix was brought in to bring order, consistency, and cost control. We knew the challenge would take more than just better supply chain management – it needed smart systems, clear oversight, and a team who cared.

What we did

Our investigations led us to a unique solution: a dedicated in-house team, working collaboratively across all departments, using a mixture of upgraded inhouse print solutions alongside a small selection of local audited suppliers to provide the complete range of print that was required.  We centralised all purchasing and stock management and analysed each job introducing  ‘least cost routing’ technology – automatically directing jobs to the most cost-effective, appropriate source, whether internal, stocked, or outsourced.

The result

Every Trust ward and department now accesses print via a simple online platform with full cost visibility, expert guidance, and responsive support. The detailed MI data allows total control over all print spend allowing more savings and efficiency improvements to be made through economies of scale, version controls, wastage analysis, digitisation of key operational documentation and reduced administration.   Ongoing oversight continues to drive savings, reduces risk, and ensures consistent service – freeing up time to focus on frontline care.

“The contribution to our projects has been invaluable and their constant support has helped us achieve an improved patient experience, standardisation of documentation and our CIP’s over all our departments.”
